1. Five years of experience in counselling practice accompanied by two letters of recommendation from counselling professionals who are registered members with a provincial or other government-approved Association for counselling professionals

2. Membership in "good standing" with the CPCA and/or other regulatory body for a period of five years. The five year period must be free from "any complaint" against the applicant.

3. Submission of a report from a Criminal Records Check completed by the RCMP or other legitimate police organization, within the last six months.

4. Acceptance of the CPCA Code of Ethics.

5. Completion of confidential qualifying examination and psychological testing.

6. Proof of Professional Liability Insurance.

7. Approval of the submittted application by the CPCA membership committee.
