Counsellor Directory

This innovative membership service serves to promote business information about your counselling practice, specialized services and skills as well as the ability to upload a profile picture and business logo. With futurist trends heading towards a generation that seeks information online as well as a specific set of skills, knowledge and experience, the CPCA believes this directory will provide a competitive edge for marketing our member's counselling services across Canada to the public, insurance providers, EAP contractors and government for verification of your legitimacy. All members who are in "good standing" will be approved to list their contact information in the directory on an annual basis. It allows our members to login to their directory listing once it has been approved and make any changes to their contact information.

Description

I look forward to meeting with you as we explore the challenges you face today along with the supports and strengths you have developed.

My aim is to create a hope-filled therapeutic environment; one of understanding and acceptance. In our work together we will explore the “enduring vulnerabilities” (unfinished business) that may be affecting your personal well-being & your emotional/relational health.

My work in the field of Mental Health currently spans over 8 years (2016) & my educational experience has provided me with an RPC (Registered Professional Counsellor) designation and builds upon my life experiences as a writer, community educator, therapeutic youth worker, spouse & mentor. I am a member in good standing with the CPCA (Canadian Professional Counsellor’s Association) & an active member in a Clinical Counselling Internship.

While I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic methods, my approach is grounded in the integration of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness therapy, neuroscience/neuropsychology, family of origin research, & rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). I take a full history with each client & we determine what the ‘underlying issues’ are (the roots) which will then influence the ‘behavior’ (or the fruits).

In my work with couples I utilize the Gottman Method. We will work to decrease and eliminate the 4 characteristics that predict divorce with over 86% accuracy:
- criticism,
- contempt,
- defensiveness, &
- stonewalling.

With couples I offer:
- couples counselling,
- marriage counselling,
- pre-marriage preparation,
- infertility support,
- support during recovery from an affair / regret incident, and
- individual counselling sessions along with joint sessions.

My work with individual clients includes work with:
- depression in it's many forms including bipolar disorders,
- anxiety including GAD,
- OCD behaviors,
- anger management and the underlying causes,
- postpartum adjustment & depression,
- performance orientation,
- boundaries - when to say yes & how to say no,
- shame-based & defensive personality disorders,
- physical/verbal/sexual abuse recovery & support,
- grief recovery & support,
- miscarriage & infertility support,
- meta-emotion awareness & emotion coaching,
- eating disorders & disordered eating patterns,
- LGBTQ support,
- patterns of addiction,
- divorce recovery,
- unwanted pregnancy support,
- prayer counselling - this is OPTIONAL as I work with clients of any faith (or non-faith) background.

On a personal note: I enjoy backyard gardening with a still-developing green-thumb, I constantly have a few novels 'on-the-go' & always look forward to discovering a new favorite author, & I enjoy fit activities including Olympic weight-lifting, kettle bell circuits, off-leash walks with our 2 racing hounds, & hot yoga.

I believe in nourishing the whole person: Body-Soul-Spirit (Mind-Will-Emotions) & I would be honored to work with you on your journey towards freedom.

Warm regards,

Chaz Wiebe, RPC
