Counsellor Directory

This innovative membership service serves to promote business information about your counselling practice, specialized services and skills as well as the ability to upload a profile picture and business logo. With futurist trends heading towards a generation that seeks information online as well as a specific set of skills, knowledge and experience, the CPCA believes this directory will provide a competitive edge for marketing our member's counselling services across Canada to the public, insurance providers, EAP contractors and government for verification of your legitimacy. All members who are in "good standing" will be approved to list their contact information in the directory on an annual basis. It allows our members to login to their directory listing once it has been approved and make any changes to their contact information.

"Helping Women in their process of becoming fully functioning persons"

My name is Ana. I'm an international educated Clinical Psychologist. I worked for over 11 years with children, adults and families as a full-time Psychologist in a Social Support Center located in a underprivileged neighborhood of my hometown, Porto in Portugal.

My therapeutic focus is on Women seeking an opportunity to develop a sense of Self where they can realize how their attitudes, feelings and behaviors are being negatively affected - by anxiety, depression, trauma, fears, a sense of not being self-worth... whatever the origin of the problem is.

My passion is to work one-on-one with my clients and provide them with the right conditions - Empathy, Genuineness and Acceptance - to help them deal with any psychological struggle in their lives. I believe deeply that my clients have the potential to become whatever they want to be, as long as a warm and facilitative climate is provided during a therapeutic session.

I use a Client-Centered Approach, developed by Carl Rogers, the founder of the movement whose ideas I feel a strong connection with. I have a very positive and optimistic view and understanding of human nature: the philosophy that people are essentially good, and that ultimately they know what is right for them. This is the essential ingredient of a successful person centered therapy providing long-term psychotherapy that goes deeper into the unknown layers of the Self.

The purpose of Roger’s Humanistic Therapy is to increase a person’s feelings of self-worth, reduce the level of incongruence between the ideal and actual self, and help a person become a more fully functioning person.

"It is that the individual has within himself or herself vast resources for self-understanding, for ing his or her self-concept, attitudes and self-directed behavior - and that these resources can be tapped if only a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided." (Carl Rogers, 1986)

I build my therapeutic relationships so that the clients feel respected and comfor enough to explore their situation, their feelings and choices without being told what to do.

They are allowed TO BE, to go at their own pace, to find their own way in a safe, supportive relationship which values the person as she/he is in that moment.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am then I can change” (Carl Rogers)
